CPWC Access and Equity Policy
An essential part of Chinese Professional Women of Canada (CPWC) executive committee with volunteer team work is helping member work past barriers in the community, whether in women and families, children education, employment, or community services. You will be called upon to advocate on behalf of members.
CPWC advocates equity, equality and social and economic justice not only for Chinese women and families, but also for diverse groups, as well as working within a framework. CPWC does not permit racism and discrimination against members, applicants, staff, participants or volunteers at all levels of the organization on the basis of race, religion, age, sexual orientation, ability, socio-economic background, ethnicity or family status.
Access and Equity Policy applies to all areas of the organization operations including recruiting, hiring, promotion, assigning of work, program delivery and volunteer activities in keeping with the principles of employment equity.
In order to ensure that Access and Equity Policy is integrated and reflected in the work we do, the equity in the following areas:
- Participate in multicultural/anti-racist organization development
- Collect data on composition of program participants, volunteers, staff and the Executive Committee
- Understand on participants, volunteers and staff at all levels.
- Remove barriers, set goals, set up evaluation mechanisms and improve practices, and strengthen report and feedback system
- Develop effective communications for multicultural communities (e.g. translation, cultural interpreters)
- Seek participation from communities which face discrimination in programs and staff/volunteer positions.
- Set up procedures for dealing with incidents involving discrimination.
- Provide volunteers and staff with education and training in access and equity policy
- Strengthen complaints procedure to respect various of information from complaining, to support and protect those persons who make complaints.
- Clear the consequences for violating the policy, to call on human rights and by-laws, issuing a serious warning or disciplinary warning
- Make timely review and evaluation of the policy, including its operation, management and feasibilities.
- Everyone has the same right and opportunity to participate in community services and learn information
